01
Content design & narrative strategy
I design content journeys that simplify the user experience. From tone-of-voice development to technical SEO and content audits, I make sure your message is seen, understood and felt. As an English graduate and lifelong writer, I’m a copywriter and editor who has crafted emails, ads and editorial that have delivered sales and donation records — and built the brand guidelines large content teams work to.
02
SEO, PPC & performance marketing
Organic SEO and paid (Google Ads, Meta, video) campaigns built on real data. I produce clarity from confusion — running in-depth performance analysis and turning it into actionable, plain-language insight. Recent clients include Fair Trials, Alex TLC, Brain Research UK and Vitality.
03
Content strategy & planning
Planning without coordination is like an orchestra playing what they like and expecting great music. I’ve built content and communications planning systems for organisations that are still in place years later, because they put coordination first using accessible tools and clear internal channels.
04
Marketing strategy
By instinct and training I’m a strategist, taught by some of the best marketers in the UK via an IDM post-graduate diploma. Well-versed in the tools and rules of properly-structured strategy that’s plain and practical, not full of buzzwords. I’ve led many workshops with stakeholders at every level of seniority.
05
Social media & digital engagement
I’m gifted at engaging audiences on social channels through strategic planning, pragmatic flexibility, and harnessing the creativity of supporters and staff. At Rethink Mental Illness I devised the ‘mental patient’ Halloween costume campaign that achieved national media coverage; at Mind I quadrupled web traffic, tripled social followers and delivered a 1600% uplift in donation income via digital.
06
Project & programme management
Qualified PRINCE2 practitioner with a decade in contract project management before specialising in digital. I’ve led major website rebuilds and brand transformations to time and budget — most recently for Pancreatic Cancer UK (during lockdown), Fair Trials and Alex TLC, and earlier for Rethink Mental Illness and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
07
Working in charities and non-profits
Senior digital roles at Pancreatic Cancer UK, Mind, Rethink Mental Illness, NSPCC and Tommy’s. I understand charity pressure, complex decision-making and tight resources — every pound has to deliver engagement and ROI. I’ve also worked closely with vulnerable groups and understand the sensitivities involved.
08
Measurement, test & learn
A keen data analyst and student of behavioural psychology. Particularly expert in digital metrics — cutting through the noise of GA4 and Looker Studio to reveal what actually matters. I visualise complex data clearly, develop hypotheses, run tests and ‘playbook’ findings so learning isn’t lost.
09
Visual & creative production
My first freelance work was as a designer. I’ve been using Photoshop, InDesign and the Adobe Creative Suite for a long time, plus video editing and tools like Canva. Effective creative isn’t just operative skill — it’s understanding audiences and objectives. I’ve broken digital engagement records with scroll-stopping, high-converting videos and statics.
10
Training & speaking
I’ve designed and delivered training in digital strategy, writing for the web, marketing email, GDPR for marcomms, GA4, Looker Studio and many CMSs. I’ve spoken at industry events including the CharityComms conference, SMEX and events hosted by the Wellcome Trust.
11
Data law & regulation
Early in my career I worked as a Civil Servant on large pieces of legislation, and I still enjoy reading and interpreting law. I was on the GDPR senior steering group at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, advising the Board, and I provide clear marketing-team advice based on UK/EU law and ICO guidance.
